Hey ya'll, i sell links a few hardlinks Link Vehicle, and they sent out a message today having this wierd request:

"I wanted to ask for a favor from all of our publishers. If you have a link placed on your site and it is a site wide link can you change it so that it comes from a single page. This is a big request from one of our advertisers and it would be very helpful if you can help us out. Just to be clear, we want to receive only single page links and not have the link appear in the interior pages. If you can do this it would help maintain our clients.

If you have a wordpress blog try is_home() it is a wordpress specific function.

If you are able to do this please confirm with me. Thanks for cooperating."

I just don't get why they would want less links. I always would have thought the more the merrier with hardlinks. Anyone have any idea why?

DISCLAIMER I can only speculate since I'm not SEO savvy. DISCLAIMER

From what I have seen, some sites can have different PR and Alexa per page. Some pages on that same site could be more/less link spammy then the others, too. I think this strategy might be to consolidate, link from the TOP page which is the strongest PR/Alexa on that domain. This way it can maximize the link juice from the site and not get diluted through various SE algorithms.

What do you think? That's just my wild guess ... figured I'd give it a shot :(

It's somewhat of a handicapped request. That guy is not really doling his homework. Blogroll links are more or less worthless for SEO because they are in a group with many other links. The further down on a page they appear and the more often they are embedded, the less they are worth. However, the first link on index page holds the largest value and other copies are devalued to zero. It does not really matter how many times you add zero to a small number, it will still remain same value.

This changes significantly, when you take a link out of blogroll and place it together with content on index page. This will boost value of a link, but depending on site this boost may just be temporary. In my experience such a boost lasts from a couple of hours to several weeks. Now, if the guy does that with 100 link partners, he will gain a lot of link juice over a year or two, but it's a lot of work.
